Cathleen was born and raised in Charleston S.C.  Her father and grandmother tinted her childhood environment with many artistic influences.  At 13, the human face became intriguing to her and that is where her passion for portrait work was planted.

 

     As a teen she studied basic pencil and charcoal drawing with Claire Whitaker.  Stuart Peters taught her the art of pastel portraiture work.  After moving to Atlanta in the late 1990’s additional study in pastel was accomplished with Rick Rennick.  Now, located in Chesapeake, VA, Cathleen continues studying with Donald Wilson who has broadened her skills and interests with acrylic painting.

 

Cathleen’s primary medium is pastel on canson paper or suede mat board.  She also works in acrylic on canvas and luna board.
